Yes, a Jolee and Shayna update (July 25, 2002)

Hello.

This is a mass e-mailing. I apologize if someone gets this who doesn't want to. I lost my old list, so I'm starting from scratch. If you don't want to be on this list, please let me know. If your address is no good, don't worry, you won't be reading this. I apologize for a) the delay/non-existence of kid updates
and b) not responding to e-mails. I'm a busy boy etc etc.

Last weekend, we packed into a car and drove through New Jersey and Pennsylvania and ended up in Niagara Falls. The trip was uneventful, it was raining too hard in Pennsylvania for Jolee to see the dead deer on the side of the road (saved the Bambi speech for later in the trip), Jolee threw up once after leaving a rest stop somewhere between Binghamton and Syracuse, and Shayna had a stellar bathroom moment in an Olive Garden in Rochester (details expunged for obvious reasons).

We landed In Niagara late Friday night and Saturday had some fun. The hit of the touristy stuff was going up in a tethered hot air balloon so we could see the Falls. We then walked around, saw Goat Island (but no goats), and did some shopping. Jolee and Shayna were terrified of a wax museum (yet, a 400-foot ascent ina balloon was no problem). We lunched at the Hard Rock Cafe and Shayna went beserk after being subjected to a Britney Spears video.

That evening we went to Lisa Valdez' wedding in Lewiston, New York. I met Lisa day one at Occidental and Melanie was in the same sorority with her, not that I have to explain why we were invited to the wedding, or anything, but it explains why we would drive so far. Anyway....the wedding was very cool, Jolee and Shayna had a blast, and Jolee tried out some new dance moves. For you Oxy grads, we saw Lucia Choi ('89) and her son Kai, Lande Ajose ('87) Iforgothermarriedname, and Ellie Promer (x'89). She lives in Germany and I think I misspelled her name. Jolee had her first boy dance (that we know of) with Ellie's younger son, who started the courtship by running up to Jolee and growling at her so she ran away screaming. By the end of the night, she was chasing him around. I think that's how it works in the wild, too.

On Sunday, we headed back to Brooklyn. No rain, no dead deer, and a little outlet shopping.

For pictures of this fabulous weekend, you have to e-mail me back, and I will send you a link via our new picture-host dotphoto.com. Replying will guarantee you'll be linked for future photoessays on the Cohens of Brooklyn.

All my best and a happy 21st (can it possibly be true?) birthday to Aunt Alicia (e-mail her birthday wishes at oxymoon@hotmail.com.
