Halloween

Greetings and Happy November!

Halloween in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn is a prolonged affair, beginning with the
annual Ragamuffin Parade, a costumed affair which transports thousands of
kids down 3rd Avenue in a traditional parade event. In the past, we have been
spectators. This year, we joined in.

The Parade is actually held during the last weekend of September, but due to
obvious circumstances, it was moved back until October 20. Fortunately, it
was a beautiful, warm day and Jolee and Shayna, in matching ballerina outfits
joined the parade which commenced around 67th Street and ended up just around
the corner at 92nd Street.

Halloween itself was fun as well, though a bit more brisk, temperature-wise.
In our neighborhood, it seems most of the trick of treating is done (but is
not limited to) 3rd Ave. Instead of ringing doorbells, the kids go from store
to store and rake in the loot. This is very fun, and inherently safer for
all, despite the marauding teenagers with their egg-hurling proclivities. Not
to worry, we were safe from these scoundrels, who were assuredly frightened
by my pumpkin headband, or perhaps my Scooby-Doo necktie.

Jolee's friend Emma joined us, along with Emma's parental units, Dennis and
Kelly. We had a grand old time.

My apologies in that the site is Ragamuffin heavy as the batteries on my
digital camera turned into pumpkins very early on Halloween night.
