Ambulatory Incentives

Shayna's walking efforts have blossomed. She is now taking upwardsof fifteen
to twenty steps at a time. Of course, we discovered that, under certain
circumstances, she was a bit more, well, inclined to perform. For example,
Shayna was standing by our coffee table and I was sitting at the dining room
table, about ten feet away. I also happened to be having dessert, a piece of
chocolate cake, to be more exact.
When Shayna saw what I had,and more importantly, saw that I was offering her
some (a very small bit), she walked, then, well, she didn't exactly run the
last few steps, but she did sort of stumble forward in a controlled way that
seemed to be a precursor to running.

Misheard lyrics (January 19, 2000)

Yesterday I had to explain to Jolee that, even though Mary may have had a
little lamp, it wouldn't have had fleece as white as snow. Lambs do, I
assured her, and I think she will now be spared any public embarassment.
Speaking of public embarassment, the only lamp we have to illustrate to her
what a lamp is, is Uncle Seth's old Care Bears lamp, still burning bright in
its third decade.

Walking home from the grocery store . . .

Somehow the subject of vampires came up.....we told Jolee that vampires
like to drink blood.....expecting an adverse reaction from her, we were
surprised when she replied, "uh-huh and dragon boogers." Uncle Seth, did you teach
her that?


Uncle Seth replied:

yes...yes i did

Shayna's First Word

Yesterday, Shayna uttered her first word (other than "ma-ma" and "da-da").
It was "book".
Wonder where she picked that up?
